The women weavers of the Chiapas Highlands have been, for thousands of years, the bearers of a great wealth of culture, represented in the iconography of their handmade textiles, considered to be the most labor intensive, interesting and outstanding in the world.

The different techniques of weaving on backstrap loom and prehispanic brocades, representing the maya worldview of the universe, constitute the distinctive feature of each ethnic group. Each of them is expressed in terms of its own evolution and permanence.

In Casa Lum we support fair trade with the acquisition and marketing of handmade textiles created by artisans from Chiapan communities.
